In the first theleftberlin Book Club we will be discussing Mahmood Mamdani’s book Neither Settler Nor Native: The Making and Unmaking of Permanent Minorities. In this, the first session, we will be discussing the book’s Introduction and Chapter One – The Indian Question in the United States.

Book Club takes place on Sundays at Nansenstraße 2, near Hermannplatz. The full schedule is as follows:

• 13th October: Chapter One – The Indian Question in the United States
• 20th October: Chapter Two – Nuremberg: The Failures of Denazification
• 27th October: Chapter Three – Settlers and Natives in Apartheid South Africa
• 10th November: Chapter Four – Sudan: Colonialism, Independence, and Secession
• 24th November: Chapter Five – The Israel/Palestine Question
• 15th December: Chapter Six – Decolonising the Political Community

Please try to read the appropriate chapter before attending this session of theleftberlin Book Club. It would also help if you are able to attend all the sessions so we can read the book from beginning to end together.
