The Brecht-Weigel-Haus Buckow is a memorial to the playwright Bertolt Brecht and artist Helene Weigel. The socialist couple had chosen the place as their summer residence since 1952. Brecht wrote the “Buckow Elegies” here in 1953.

The house is on the Schermützelsee, around 70km East of Berlin. The house also contains a museum and can be used as a starting point for countryside walks by the lake.

This is the third trip organised by the LINKE Berlin Internationals and Berlin DSA to use the €9 monthly train ticket to visit undsicovered Germany. Travel costs are free if you have a ticket. Entrance to the Brecht-Weigel Haus costs €4 (€3 for unemployed people and students).

Meet at Alexanderplatz U-Bahn station at 11.10. We will be taking the 11.17 U5 to Lichtenberg (meet at the front of the train). If you’d prefer to join us in Lichtenberg, we’ll be taking the 11.38 train to Müncheberg.
