The Art Archive in Beeskow hosts an exceptional stock of visual art from the DDR, which is of both cultural and historical interest. It offers multifaceted insights in the culture and art system of the DDR. Large oil paintings, fragile works on paper, heavy bronze busts, fine porcelain ceramics, expensive tapestries – the archive offers a row of different reference points for the history of the Twentieth Century.
The Art Archive contains around 23,000 works including the following:
- 12.992 graphics
- 1.942 drawings
- 1.500 paintings
- 1.305 photographs
- 3.656 medals und badges
- 286 small sculptures
- 298 hand crafted objects
- 60 textile works
On Sunday, 21st August, the LINKE Berlin Internationals and Berlin DSA are organising our fourth trip using the €9 monthly train ticket to visit undsicovered Germany. Travel costs are free if you have a ticket. Entrance to the Art Archive, including a guided tour in English, costs €9 (€7 reduced). NOTE: please register for this event so that we know how many places to book.
Meet at Alexanderplatz station on platform 1 at 10.45. We will be taking the 10.58 train towards Frankfurt (Oder). You can also join the train at other stations.
