First €9 train ticket day trip: Eisenhüttenstadt

  •  18/06/2022
     10:15 - 20:15

On Saturday, 18th June, the Berlin LINKE Internationals and Berlin DSA invite you on a visit to Eisenhüttestadt.

Cost: FREE! All you need is a €9 monthly train ticket.

Eisenhüttenstadt – formerly known as Stalinstadt – was the first planned city to be built in the GDR. Up to this day it is one of the most complete examples of Stalinist urban planning and architecture in the world. Walking around “Hütte”, as it is known to locals, is to step into a built utopia of 1950s communism.

Join us for a guided tour to find out how ideology turned into concrete, how the communists imagined the good life, and what became of it. We will also visit Eisenhüttenstadt’s Museum Utopie und Alltag to get a feeling for daily life in the GDR.

The train leaves Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 10.24. Join us at 10.15 on Platform 11 (train to Frankfurt (Oder)).

There’s no need to register – just turn up. For more details, contact us on lag.internationals@die-linke-berlin.de or berlindsa@gmail.com.
