In 2024, The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), a founding member of the BDS movement, called for the boycott of Eurovision. PACBI and the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate had called on Eurovision organisers, the EBU, to ban Israel – just as Russia was banned for its illegal invasion of Ukraine – or face widespread boycotts. The EBU has instead doubled down on its shameful, hypocritical complicity in Israel’s genocide. Despite some EU countries increasing the pressure to ban Israel by dropping out of the competition, Germany (having disproportionate influence on the board) insists on letting the Zionist entity take part.
For this reason, the Left Berlin is organising its 3rd edition of PALIVISION - an evening of live music acts and DJ sets, poetry and political speeches for people in Berlin who want to observe the Eurovision boycott. In a separate room, we will be hosting various photo exhibitions. Join us at New Yorck im Bethanien in Kreuzberg on Saturday, 16th May. Doors open at 7pm, the first act will take the stage at 8pm. All profits raised at PALIVISION 3 will be donated. The exact causes will be announced closer to date.
