Unframe Festival is an independent political and cultural festival in Berlin, bringing together talks, discussions, workshops, film, art and music over one weekend. You can see the full timetable here.
Founded in 2024, Unframe grew out of the idea of creating a space for political exchange that is independent of any particular party or organisation. The organisers themselves are revolutionary Marxists, and this perspective shapes the festival: Unframe aims to connect struggles that are often discussed in isolation and to ask what questions around Palestine, war, racism, feminism, climate change or inequality can tell us about the society we live in as a whole.
This year’s programme explores everything from capitalism, class and imperialism to the AI arms race, militarisation and climate change, Palestine, wealth and inheritance, literature and political art. Alongside political sessions, Unframe features film screenings, the Rote Flut art exhibition, a live concert and a Saturday night party.
But Unframe is not simply about listening to talks for a weekend. At its heart is the idea that understanding the world should help us change it. The festival wants to bring people together, create connections and provide a space where different political ideas can be debated and challenged—and where people can find ways to organise and become active collectively.
Political discussion alone cannot change society. But it can help us understand the conditions we are fighting against, sharpen our ideas and meet the people we might fight alongside.
