Gaza Eyewitnesses is a powerful cinematic work by Palestinian artists, built directly from oral testimonies from within Gaza. The 50-minute film (Arabic with English subtitles) captures the raw spectrum of human experience: death and life, desperation and irony, horror and humanity.
This collective artistic film project bears witness through performance. Rather than playing characters, the Palestinian artists act as messengers of a broad spectrum of personal stories, experiences, and situations. The result is a quiet yet comprehensive and profound testimony that gives the people of Gaza a voice about their everyday lives beyond the loud and strident discourses about the war.
Artists in the film are Salwa Nakkara, Hossam Al Madhoun, Ahmad Tobasi, Aseel Farhat, Atallah Tannous, and Fadwa Qamhia. Dramaturgy is by Ofira Henig. The film is directed by Aleko Gotscheff.
After two successful premieres in Berlin in December 2025, followed by screenings in London and across Germany, the film will be shown once more in Berlin on 14 June 2026 in the Cosima-Filmtheater,
Sieglindestraße 10. Entrance is free, but registration is required. This screening is organised by the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung.
